I recently took a cruise through the stores in the area ( mostly the large discount stores ) and checked the belts on their racks. The belts I found were mostly made in china or south america and the leather thickness ranged between 6 and 8 ounces, ( 8 ounce is about 1/8 of an inch thick ) and I think some of them were made from a strip of cardboard glued between a couple 3 or 4 ounce pieces of leather. All our belts are made from world famous Hermann Oak Leather. The bridle leather belts ( more of a dress belt ) are 8 - 9 - or 10 ounce leather, what ever we have on hand in that color hide. The remainder of our belts are made ( 1 at a time by hand ) from Hermann Oak tooling leather hides . The standard belts are 9-10 ounce leather and an option is available to increase the leather thickness to much beyond the normal belt leather, 11 - 12 - 13 or heavier leather, generally at a button on that page. if you don't find a button available you can come to this page and use the button provided here. If you are ordering multiple belts and have different thickness please email us at ken@oldfatguy.com or at one of the email buttons provided to let us know which belt you want in which thickness.
